Services: 6.2% fall in declared investment over first 11 months of 2021

The investment declared in the activities of services has regressed by 6.2%, between 2020 and 2021 (11 months), to 940.6 million dinars (MD), according to the bulletin of the economic situation (November 2021), published by the APII.

The number of declared projects has dropped by 16.2%, to 7941, which will allow the creation of 27, 496 jobs, against 30, 386 jobs in 2020, a drop of 9.5%.

The investments declared in the activities of totally exporting services have evolved by 44.4%, to 114.4 MD. These projects represent only 12% of the total investments declared at the end of November 2021.  Those in services oriented towards the local market which represent 88% of the total investment declarations in the activities of services fell back by 10.6%.

The APII also specified that 84% of the declared investments in services activities were declared in the Eastern region.

In fact, the decline of investments during the first eleven months of the year 2021, in the service activities results from the fall of investments declared in the Eastern regions by 12.3%, to 788.7 MD. On the other hand, investments in the western regions increased by 47% to 151.8 MD.

Investments with foreign participation represent only 8% of the total declared investments. The latter dropped by 63.3% from 199.3 MD during the first eleven months of the year 2020, to 73.1 MD over the same period of the year 2021.
This downfall is also due to the 61.7% drop in partnership investments (46.6 MD) and 65.8% of investments declared within the framework of 100% foreign projects (26.5 MD).

Increase of 18.1% of services related to industry
At the level of services related to industry, the declared investment which represents 36.8% of the total investment declared in services activities, recorded an increase of 18.1%, amounting to 346.3 MD.

In addition, the number of projects related to the industry decreased by 7.2%, to 5,504 and that the number of related jobs followed the same downward trend (-1.6%, to 14,414 jobs at the end of November 2021).
