The year 2026 had not started under the best auspices, with a 13.5% drop in registrations in January compared to the previous year. However, the trend reversed radically from February onward (+26.4%).
The highlight of this recovery was reached in March with a spectacular 55% growth, before stabilizing on a positive note in April (+12.4%).
The KIA-Hyundai duel at the top
The top of the ranking is the scene of fierce competition. KIA takes first place with 2,091 units sold, thanks to an exceptional performance in April (1,023 registrations, nearly half of its total volume).
Hyundai closely trails the leader with 2,042 units. The brand notably dominated the month of February with 983 registrations.
In third place, Isuzu confirms its strength with 1,847 units, driven by the timeless success of its utility vehicles. Citroën (1,365) and Renault (1,248) complete the national Top 5.
Utility vehicles and popular cars
Model analysis reveals clear consumer trends. The Isuzu D-Max Single Cab remains the best-selling vehicle in Tunisia with 1,375 units.
The KIA Picanto comes in second (1,169 units). When combining its standard version and its “Populaire” version, it largely dominates the city car segment.
The “Populaire” segment remains a pillar of the market. The Picanto, the Grand i10, and the Renault Kwid all feature high in the model sales rankings.
The dominance of leasing
Registration data also reveals the financial structure of the market. Leasing remains the preferred financing method for Tunisians with 11,694 registrations, ahead of direct owners (9,841).
This positive trend over the first four months of the year suggests a record year 2026 for local dealerships, provided that inventory and financing conditions maintain this pace.
