Tunisia: 216 CAPITAL invests 400 million euros in fintech My Easy Transfer

With nearly 2 million Tunisians living abroad, the Tunisian diaspora is more than ever an important resource for the national economy. By the end of 2023, remittances from workers abroad are expected to reach TND 10 billion.

As part of its commitment to supporting value creators in Tunisia, 216 Capital has invested €400,000 in Franco-Tunisian startup My Easy Transfer, which facilitates secure money transfers from the diaspora.

The Fintech story began with brothers Ismail and Jabrane Khenissi, IT and finance professionals with careers in major international banks in the UK, France and Africa. They founded their fintech in March 2022 with the aim of simplifying money transfer services for their community, and using their expertise to serve their country and compatriots. In just one year, My Easy Transfer has experienced strong growth and has managed to reach 10,000 customers.

My Easy Transfer has huge potential to change the money transfer landscape and provide faster and more cost-effective solutions for users,” said Dhekra Khelifi, Partner at 216 Capital.

This round of funding marks an important milestone in the history of the startup, which aims to develop its platform to meet all the payment needs of the diaspora: money transfer, sending mobile top-ups, paying local bills, etc. in a single mobile application.

My Easy Transfer also plans to develop its model to become the first payment super-app for the diaspora, strengthen its presence in Tunisia through new partnerships and expand into new markets in Africa such as Morocco, Mali, Senegal…

Ismail Khenissi, co-founder of My Easy Transfer, said: “We want to offer every Tunisian living abroad the opportunity to manage all their financial transactions to Tunisia from their smartphone using our platform.”

Founded in Tunis in 2021 by a team of entrepreneurs and investors, 216 Capital is a seed and pre-seed venture capital firm specializing in technology companies. 216 Capital invests in determined and creative entrepreneurs building disruptive businesses.
