Tunisia: 2,238 industrial projects and 26,597 new jobs created in 2012

The year 2012 recorded the launch or start of realization of 2,238 projects against 2,062 industrial projects in 2011, up 8.5%.

The amount of investment in these projects in 2012 totaled 1,311.2 million Tunisian dinars (MTD). They helped create 26,597 new job positions, said the newsletter of the Agency for Industry Promotion (API).

Investments in created projects increased from 609.6 MTD in 2011 to 653.3 MTD in 2012, i.e. a rise of 7.2%. The number of projects increased by 8.2% from 1300 to 1406 in 2012, and jobs created rose 5.7% to 18,885 against 17,881 job positions in 2011.

Investments in projects of expansion and renewal of equipment in 2012 totaled 657.9 MTD against 621.6 MTD in 2011, posting a growth of 5.8%.

The number of these projects increased by 9.2% from 762 to 832 during the year 2012 and generated jobs grew 5.4% reaching 7,712 job positions in 2012 against 7,315in 2011.
