Tunisia: Airbus Atlantic invests TND 50 million to bring job positions up to 1,200

After the COVID-years, which brought the sector to a virtual standstill, the recovery in the aerospace sector has been swift. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), there is no shortage of signs of recovery, both in terms of air traffic and industry.

In Tunisia, this flagship of the manufacturing industry, with 80 companies and 17,000 jobs, has already joined this dynamic to become a major player in the global recovery.

Since the beginning of 2023, most of the key players in the sector have announced major expansions of their production sites in Tunisia. It is clear that Tunisia is a prime destination for new investments in the sector, as predicted by observers of the sector. It is a country that perfectly meets the criteria of proximity and, above all, just-in-time delivery, which was largely disrupted during the COVID period in Asian locations.

Aware of the importance of the development potential that Tunisia offers to operators in the sector, the FIPA-Tunisia team responsible for promoting and supporting the aerospace  sector, led by Jalel Tebbib, CEO of FIPA, visited the Airbus Atlantic group operating in the El Mghira aeronautics park in the Ben Arous governorate on Wednesday, August 30.

The purpose of the visit was to present to the group, represented by Ouassim Berraies, Airbus Manager in France, and Iskander Chaouch, Airbus Site Manager in Tunisia, the latest measures taken by the Ministry of the Economy and Planning as part of the national strategy to improve investment conditions, which will provide a definite boost to the development of the group’s activities in Tunisia.

At its Mghira site, Airbus Atlantic works in perfect symbiosis with seven of its partners in the sector, who together form a unique network working exclusively for Airbus France. The recent extension to a 6,000 m² building, representing an investment of 50 MDT, should enable Airbus to increase its employment capacity to 1,200 jobs.

Since its creation in 2008, the aerospace park has seen strong demand from world-renowned aerospace companies. By expanding from 19 to 35 hectares, it should be able to meet future demand.
