Tunisia announces strong UK tourism arrivals for October and November

Tunisia has announced strong tourism arrivals for October and November following continued political stability.

UK arrivals to the country were up 13.3% in October to 46, 249 visitors, while November numbers were up 29.7% to 20, 116.

The increases came despite the introduction of an exit tax of £11 which came into force in October 2014.

A record has already been set for the first 11 months of this year, where a total of 413, 317 tourists headed to the country.

“We’re thrilled to report such impressive continued growth from the UK visitor market. These strong figures show that Tunisia, which has long been popular with UK visitors, continues to appeal thanks to its continually improving tourism offering,” said Minister of Tourism Amel Karboul.

However travelers have been warned of protests and demonstrations in the country this weekend when the second round of presidential elections take place. Additional security will be in place but tourists have been advised to be vigilant on Election Day, the 21 December.
