Tunisia: approved agricultural investments increase 8%

Approved agricultural investments in the first 11 months of 2014 have increased by 8% compared to the same period in 2013 and 35.4% compared to 2012, according to data published by the Agency for the Promotion of Agricultural investment (APIA).

The volume of investments reached nearly 480.9 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) against 445.4 MTD in 2013 and 355.2 MTD in 2012, allowing the creation of 4,299 jobs positions against 4,263 during the same period in 2013.

At the regional level, the governorate of Beja has held the top spot with 52.3 MTD ahead of Kasserine (48, 9 MTD), Mahdia (35.5 MTD), Nabeul (33.6 MTD), Sidi Bouzid (32.5 MTD) Kairouan (31.3 MTD) and Bizerte (26.9 MTD).

The governorates of Gabes and Sousse recorded the largest decrease in reported investments with 80% and 72%, respectively.
