The Executive Board of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) decided at its meeting Wednesday to lower the Bank’s key interest rate by 50 basis points to 6.25%.
The decision was taken “to contribute to the creation of favorable conditions to boost investment and restore the pace of economic activity while preserving financial stability,” it said in a statement.
After reviewing recent economic, monetary, and financial indicators, including the latest data on economic growth, inflation, and the current account deficit, the Board said the BCT continues to closely monitor all developments, in consultation with all parties concerned.
It reiterated the commitment to continue to take the necessary measures in the light of economic and financial developments in the coming period.
