The future of Tunisia-China cooperation in infrastructure projects, such as El Jorf and Ajim bridge (Djerba), was at the heart of a meeting which Minister of Public Works, Housing and Spatial Planning Moncef Sliti had Tuesday with Ambassador Wang Wenbin.
The minister laid emphasis on the importance of projects scheduled with China in boosting development in regions.
The diplomat said Chinese partners are willing to scale up cooperation with Tunisia and abolish obstacles to speed up the implementation of projects, particularly that of the bridge in Djerba.
Sliti and Wang Wenbin agreed on the need to engage in further consultation and expedite studies to implement these projects. A meeting bringing representatives of concerned ministeries together is being considered.
The talk also focused on the regional hospital of Sfax. The Chinese official said the coming into operation of the hospital was put off because of the COVID -19 crisis and border closure. The facility will be fitted out in the shortest time possible, he added.
A number of wards will be equipped in collaboration, with the Health Ministry, to accommodate coronavirus patients within the coming weeks.
