Tunisia: CTN suffers net loss of 63 million dinars in 2020

The Tunisian Shipping Company (CTN) had suffered a net loss of 63.2 million dinars in 2020, against a deficit of 8.6 million a year earlier, according to estimates by the Ministry of Finance.

This loss is the result of the decline in operating income by 34.4 million dinars, on the one hand, and the sharp increase in net financial expenses of 24.2 million dinars (+592%), on the other hand.

According to the document of the Ministry of Finance annexed to the Finance Act 2022, the payroll of CTN amounted to 65.7 million dinars for 700 employees in 2020.

The company achieved revenues of about 348.8 million dinars in 2020, compared to 481.4 million in 2019 and 455.5 million in 2018.

In addition, the company’s outstanding debt stood at 387.3 million dinars at the end of December 2020, divided between state enterprises (190 million dinars), banks (173 million), the state (22 million) and social funds (1.8 million).
