Tunisia: cumulative losses of Tunisian Post reach nearly 130 million dinars in 2020

According to estimates by the Ministry of Finance, the Tunisian Post would have made a net loss of 7.9 million dinars in 2020, after losses of 20.2 million in 2019 and 4.9 million in 2018.

The Tunisian Post showed cumulative losses of 128.5 million dinars, at the end of December 2020.

The Tunisian Post generated revenues of about 486.5 million dinars in 2020, against 458.4 million a year earlier, a growth of 6%. As for operating expenses, they stood at 492.1 million dinars, compared to 479.8 million in 2019, posting an increase of 3%.

According to the Report on state enterprises and institutions annexed to the Finance Act 2022, the payroll of the Tunisian Post in 2020 amounted to 375.7 million dinars, against 343.6 million in 2019, a growth of 9%. These personnel costs represent 76% of the total operating expenses of the institution.

The number of employees stood at 9,048 agents in 2020, compared to 9,261 a year earlier, a decrease of 213 employees.

The Ministry of Finance’s document indicates that the number of postal savings accounts amounted to more than 4.1 million accounts at the end of December 2020.

Equity funds increased from 171.6 million in 2019 and to 144.4 million in 2020. These funds were about 202.3 million dinars in 2018.
