The general index of consumer prices increased at a slower pace in the month of February 2014, reaching 5.5% on year-on-year basis against 5.8% last month, the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) noted in a statement released Thursday, March 27, 2014,
According to the BCT, this trend is particularly due to the deceleration of the rate of increase in prices of fresh food and, to a lesser extent, manufacturing products.
It is the same for core inflation (excluding prices of controlled and fresh products) which grew in the same direction, from 6.3% in January to 6.2% in February 2014.
