The bill on the recapitalization of the “Société Tunisienne de Banque” (STB) and the “Banque de l’Habitat” (BH) was adopted Monday, July 27, 2015 by the Finance, Development and Planning Committee at the House of People’s Representatives (HPR), the House’s Bureau said in a statement posted the same day on its website.
A budget of 757 MTD was dedicated to STB and a sum of 110 MTD was allocated to BH. The objective is to support public banks and preserve their role in financing the economy.
CEO of BH, Ahmed Rjiba said, in this context, the amount spent on the capitalization of BH (110 MD) will be distributed in the form of cash subscription (50 MTD) and share premium (60 MTD).
The direct involvement of the State in BH capital is estimated at 32% or 35 MTD.
