Tunisia: expat remittances exceed 1.7 billion dinars in Q1

After reaching a record of 7.5 billion dinars in 2021, remittances from Tunisians residing abroad have continued to rise in the first quarter of the current year.

According to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), the funds transferred by the Tunisian diaspora amounted to 1.73 billion dinars at the end of March 2022, against 1.48 billion dinars on the same date in 2021, up 250 million dinars (+17%)

Expat remittances represent in the first quarter more than three times the tourism revenues of Tunisia, which amounted to 545 million dinars.
