Expat remittances amounted to more than 2.3 billion dinars until end May 2021, according to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).
These remittances posted an increase of 19.5% compared to the first five months of 2020 and 28.1% compared to the same period in 2019.
As such, remittances reach a historical high and represent the equivalent of 2% of GDP after 1.6% of GDP at the end of May 2019.
In foreign currency, they amounted to nearly €750 million compared to 547 million euros at the end of May 2019.
