Tunisia: Fitch affirms country’s sovereign ratings at B +, Outlook Negative

“Fitch Ratings agency affirmed Tunisia’s sovereign ratings at B +, Outlook Negative,” Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) Governor Marouane El Abassi announced Thursday in Tunis.

Speaking at a conference on fight against parallel trade, El Abassi explained the negative outlook by “the political climate prevailing in the country in this election year, pointing out that “the foreign investors perceive a lack of visibility.”

He assured, however, that “this rating reflects the resilience of the Tunisian economy and a coherent monetary policy.”

“Even if inflation is high, it remains at a reasonable level,” he said, projecting “its decline in 2020.”
