Tunisia: free fall of tourist receipts as of August 20 (BCT)

Cumulative tourism receipts fell by 60% to 1.3 billion dinars, from the beginning of the year until August 20 compared to 3.3 billion dinars during the same period last year.

According to statistics published Wednesday by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), cumulative labor income also recorded a slight decline of 6% to 3.4 billion dinars.

The decline of these two indicators is due in particular to the crisis resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, the BCT reported in its monetary and financial indicators, the regression of cumulative external debt service by 14%, still at the same date.

Moreover, the institution points out that the overall volume of refinancing fell by 21% to 9.3 billion dinars, while total interbank transactions increased by 33%.
