Grain production is expected to reach 15.7 million quintals this year, compared to 24 million quintals in the past season, Minister of Agriculture Oussama Kheriji said Wednesday in Kairouan.
He stressed as he attended the launch of the harvest season in the region that the delay in preparations for this campaign caused by the general lockdown, has been mitigated.
A large number of collection centers have been set up and the development of the remaining centers will be completed before the second week of June.
A health protocol will be sent to farmers and collection centers to preserve the safety of all those involved in harvesting and collecting operation.
Concerning Kairouan governorate, the minister said grain production is expected to reach 1.07 million quintals this campaign.
