Tunisia has potential to become Singapore of African continent (Dione)

World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, Ousmane Dione, said his visit to Tunisia was part of the partnership between the World Bank and the Tunisian government.

Speaking on Express FM on Friday, December 13, he added that this partnership was important, solid and healthy, and that it was in line with Tunisia’s priorities and would support the implementation of its development plan.

Dione also spoke of his meetings with the Presidents of the Republic and the Prime Minister, describing them as “fruitful” and “based on Tunisia’s vision”.

He said that the social role of the state was discussed, focusing on a number of points and areas, including health, education, access to water and food security, as well as how Tunisia can achieve the digital transition by revising legislation to ensure it attracts more foreign investment and thus creates quality jobs.

There was also talk of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and establishing social justice so that all Tunisians can benefit from the results of development and enable Tunisia to achieve good growth rates.

Tunisia has potential to become Singapore of the African continent, Dione further indicated.

Ousmane Dione also stressed that the World Bank’s role is to support Tunisia in all these areas, pointing out that work is being carried out in the key areas of energy transition and renewable energies, in particular the ELMED program for an electricity link between Tunisia and Italy, while guaranteeing the best conditions for attracting more investors to Tunisia.
