Industrial production saw a decline of 5.3% until the end of October 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) Wednesday.

This decline is explained by the drop in production in the mechanical and electrical industries (-15.8%), textile-clothing and leather (-18.4%), and ceramic and glass building materials (-15%), paper and cardboard industry (-12.9%), miscellaneous manufacturing industries (-17.9%), rubber and plastics industry (-11.9%), chemical industry (-2.7%), energy (-5%) and mining (-6.2%).

On the other hand, industrial production saw an increase in the food industry sector (+5.1%) following the growth recorded in olive oil production.
