Tunisia: inflation rate could drop to 5% (Minister)

“The rate of inflation continues to decline and could reach 5% in the coming period,” Ridha Lahouel, Minister of Trade told Africanmanager during a visit Thursday morning to the wholesale market in Bir Al Kassaa, in the first day of Ramadan.

The minister believes this rate is possible since prices of consumer products fell, while the purchasing power of citizens is improving.

The inflation rate was down 0.4% to 5.3% during the month of May from 5.7% in April, according to the latest statistics released by the INS.
