Tunisia: insurance companies suffer 150 annual losses due to fraud

Fraud and fictitious accidents account for 10% of the insurance sector revenue which is estimated at nearly 1.4 billion dinars. These losses are estimated at 150 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), according to data collected by the sector.

Lotfi Bezzargua, vice president of the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA) told TAP news agency on the sidelines of a workshop on governance in insurance companies, these transactions have an impact on the insurance industry and result in financial compensation that insurance companies pay, adding that only 25% of these fraudulent acts are identified.

He added that international companies offer their services to the Tunisian insurance companies to increase this rate to 50%.
