The first international fair of renewable energy “SIED 2015” is held from April 8 to 11 at El Kram Exhibition Center. 24 countries take part in this event and about 8,000 visitors are expected.

This event aims to encourage private investors, both Tunisian and foreign, to invest in sustainable energy in Tunisia, to open new prospects in this area so as to create new jobs for university and disseminate efforts to promote and use renewable energy.

The fair is held at the initiative of the National Energy Control Agency (ANME), the Tunisian Association of Energy Management, the Tunisian Association of Wind Energy (ATEE) and the International Company of Services Fairs.

Tunisia is now focusing its efforts on the production of 30% of energy from renewable energy sources, and this for the period (2015-2030), as it is experiencing a decrease of its energy resources by about 6% each year, 5.4 million toe (Mtoe) in 2014 against 7.8 Mtoe in 2010 amid increased demand by 2% during the same period (9 Mtoe in 2014 against 8 3 Mtoe in 2010).

Tunisia’s energy deficit reached 3.6 Mtoe in 2014, up from around 0.6 Mtoe in 2010.
