Tunisia moves down 11 spots in Doing Business Report 2017

The Doing Business Report of 2018, focused this year on “Job Creation Reforms,” released by the World Bank on Tuesday, October 31 has placed Tunisia at the 88th position out of 190 countries in the “ease of doing business.”

The cradle of the Arab Spring is far behind Morocco, ranked 69th in the world and number 1 in North Africa.

But this is not the only bad news: Indeed Tunisia has dropped 11 places compared to the previous ranking (77th)…

The document, which scrutinized the reforms undertaken to further improve the business climate in 190 nations, said Tunisia has “shone” through a reform that “further impedes” business with “the establishment of a new income tax “.

As for Morocco, it is reaping the benefits of two flagship reforms likely to boost investment: an online tax payment system and a review of property registration fees.
