Tunisia: Outstanding short-term Treasury bills doubles to TND 8.5 billion at end of July

Outstanding Treasury bills totaled 24.5 billion dinars at the end of the first seven months of the year, an increase of 4 billion dinars (+19.5%) compared with the end of July 2022, according to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

In detail, the outstanding amount of Treasury bills is made up of 8.5 billion dinars (+98%) of short-term Treasury bills and 16 billion dinars (-1.2%) of fungible Treasury bills.

This growth in outstanding Treasury bills, particularly short-term, reflects the strong pressure on the liquidity needed to operate the State in a context marked by the tightening of external debt.
