Minister of Training and Employment Faouzi Abderrahmane, said in an interview with AfricanManager that the private sector today employs 70% of the Tunisian workforce, “a rate that could increase during the next few years if Tunisia manage to transform family businesses into economic ones, “explained the minister.
He also said that the Ministry has set up an incentive program for 50 thousand very small enterprises, 5 thousand SMEs and 1,000 large enterprises, after having diagnosed the main problems facing them.
The minister also said between 25% and 35% of companies that closed down suffered from the complexity and slow pace of administrative procedures and difficulties in accessing funding.
The minister also assured that the various structures under his ministry are currently working to evaluate the employment mechanisms in order to adjust them with the demands
of the labor market so that they affect the largest number of unemployed people, mainly university graduates.
