The public service wage bill amounted to 19.2 billion dinars in 2020, posting a 15% growth compared to the previous year, according to the provisional results of the execution of the state budget at the end of December 2020 published by the Ministry of Finance.
The salaries of civil servants therefore represent nearly 65% of the state management expenses and 47% of the total expenses (excluding the principal of the debt).
They also account for nearly three times the budget allocated to investments.
The latter amounts to 7.2 billion dinars in 2020 (+17%), including 3 billion in direct investments (+11.3%) and 2.4 billion in public financing (+24%).
