Tunisia: SOTETEL says will cut 56 jobs, or 15% of its workforce

The Tunisian Company of Telecommunications Enterprises (SOTETEL), on Thursday, said it has just started a social plan with the signing of an agreement between the company’s union and the Directorate General of Labor Inspection and Conciliation dated Monday, December 21, 2020.

This restructuring plan, which has been authorized by its Board of Directors, involves the layoff of 56 people (15% of the workforce) and is aimed at reducing operating expenses and improving the company’s competitiveness.

To this end, the number of employees will be cut from 431 to 375 as of January 1, 2021.

The company also emphasizes that the financing of this restructuring plan will be provided by its own financial resources.
