Tunisia: tourism earnings rise 11.6% in first 10 days of 2023, over 2019

Tunisia’s tourism earnings posted a remarkable increase of 110.4% during the first ten days of 2023, compared to the same period of 2022 and went up 11.6% over 2019, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Tourism Tuesday.

For the entire year 2022, tourism revenues saw a rise of 83.3% compared to 2021, reaching 4.279 million dinars.

In terms of arrivals, 6 million 437 thousand tourists of different nationalities visited Tunisia in 2022, up 160%, compared to 2021 and 69% compared to 2019.

The number of tourists, who visited Tunisia during the first ten days of 2023, went up 147.9% compared to the same period of 2022 and 13.1%, over 2019, “which forebodes a promising tourist season,” said the Tourism Department.

The number of overnight stays soared 140% in 2022, compared to 2021, to 20 million.

“Tourism figures in 2022 exceeded the target set which was to reach between 50% and 60% of the figures recorded in 2019, to 70%,” said the Ministry of Tourism.
