Tunisia: tourism no new bookings until end of 2015 (FTH President)

More than 170,000 hotel bookings have been canceled since the Sousse attack and there will be no new ones until the end of the current year, according to President of the Tunisian Hotel Federation (FTH) Radhouane Ben Salah.

In statement to the daily “Assabah” on Saturday, he added that many source markets, particularly in Europe, have canceled their travel to Tunisia, specifically those of Great Britain, the Netherlands and Belgium, the while German market has reduced flows to Tunisia to the bare minimum.

He said the number of overnight stays fell by 72%, while the occupancy rate fell by 50% in the month of July.

As for the Algerian market, the influx is not as important as it was in recent years, he noted, adding, however, that Algerians are used to book at the last minute.
