Tunisia: Tunisair passenger traffic rises 8.4% (9 months 2016)

Passenger traffic of national carrier Tunisair posted a growth of 8.4% to 2,321.241 passengers in the first nine months of 2016, against 2,141.310 passengers during the same period of 2015, according to data released Wednesday by the company.

The company’s regular and extra traffic grew during this period by 9.5% and 25.4% respectively, contrary to the charter activity which registered a decline of 15.9 % to 106,199 passengers in 2016 against 126,276 the previous year, because of the drop in tourist traffic, according to Tunisair.

Regarding indicators of pilgrimage activity, they rose 45.1% (from 11,791 to de17,110 passengers).

Regarding the company’s load factor, it gained 1.9 points to 70.1%, against 68.3% in 2015.

According to the geographical division of the passenger traffic of Tunisair, the European market, which accounts for a share of 74.4%, saw its traffic increase by 6.4% in 2016.

This is the same for the company’s activities to African countries (22.9% of total traffic) and to the rest of the countries (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt), up 14.2% and 8.5% respectively.
