Tunisia: unemployment rate falls slightly to 15.2% in Q4 2022

The number of unemployed in Tunisia was estimated at 624,600 in the fourth quarter of 2002, compared with 613,600 in the third quarter of the same year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Despite this increase in the number of unemployed, the unemployment rate fell slightly to 15.2%, compared with 15.3% in the previous quarter, mainly due to a rise in the number of people in employment.

In terms of gender, the unemployment rate fell slightly for men to 12.9% and for women to 20.1%. On the other hand, 38.8% of the active population aged 15-24 were unemployed, compared to 37.8% in the third quarter. This rate is 38.6% for young men and 39.1% for young women.

The unemployment rate for people with tertiary education fell to 24% in the fourth quarter of 2022, compared to 24.3% in the third quarter of the same year. This rate is 15.7% for men and 30.8% for women in the fourth quarter of 2022.
