Tunisia: Value of international trade companies’ exports up 6.1% in 2022 vs. 2021

The value of exports by international trade companies went up 6.1% in 2022 compared to 2021, reaching 3.43 billion dinars, the Export Promotion Centre (CEPEX) said in a press release issued after a sectoral meeting dedicated to the sector Monday.

The center pointed out that the sector of international trade companies includes 4,025 companies, of which 3,758 are full exporters, stressing that the exports of these companies accounted for 6% of total national exports in 2022, compared with 7% in 2021.

The meeting, which was attended by professionals from the sector and representatives of supervisory authorities and business associations, focused on the measures to be taken to develop national exports.

Participants in the meeting stressed the need to launch the economic studies required to assess the impact of the current legal and procedural framework on the activities of companies in the sector, with a view to a general revision of this framework.

They also raised the need to unify banking and customs control procedures, stressed the importance of reducing the time taken to refund VAT credits, and called for the implementation of the 2018 recommendations of the High Council for Exports.
