Tunisia: value of olive oil exports up 46.8% in first months of 2022-2023 campaign

The value of olive oil exports posted a 46.8% rise in the period from November 2022 to February 2023, compared to the same period last year, to 1,334 million dinars.

Data published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (French: ONAGRI) show Tunisia exported about 89,000 tons of olive oil in the first four months of the 2022/2023 season, that is a 3.3% rise on last year.

The export prices of Tunisian olive oil edged up 42.2%. The food trade balance achieved a surplus of TND 1.1 million at the end of February against a deficit of TND 137.5 million in February 2022.

Tunisian olive production dropped from 1.2 million tons in the 2021/22 season to 900,000 tons in the 2022-2023 season.
