Tunisia: water stock in dams down to 667 million cubic meters

Water stocks in Tunisian dams dropped 38.3% to 667.3 million cubic meters, until October 10 against 962.9 million cubic meters during the same period last year.

Average stocks in the same period over the last three years was 1.80 billion cubic meters, the National Observatory of Agriculture (French: ONAGRI) said in its October 10 newsletter.

Dams in the north have the lion’s share with a volume of 98.3% against 9% and 1.7% for those in the midland and the Cap Bon region, respectively.

El Mouli dam posted a fill rate of 94.7%, followed by Sidi ElBarrak (60.9%) and Barbara (50.6%).

Rainfall in 2021 dropped drastically compared to 2020, reaching 92% in the southeast, 90% in the southwest, 77% in the central east regions, 65% in central-west regions, 62% in the northwest and 46% in the northeast.
