Tunisia: TUNISAIR sees 17% decline in number of passengers, 2% drop in revenues

Despite a clear improvement in its activity in Q3, TUNISAIR still fails to catch up since the beginning of the year compared to its achievements at the end of September 2020.

In fact, the national carrier saw a 17% decline in the number of passengers carried, which reached 703,698 until the end of last September, against 848,898 passengers at the same date in 2020.

As a result, the company’s revenue shows a slight decline of 2% at the end of the first nine months of the year to 401 million dinars, despite a strong growth by 40% in revenue in Q3

As a result, the average revenue per passenger amounted to 479 dinars against 405 dinars a year earlier.

As for the main variable expenses, fuel expenses were virtually stagnant at 88 million dinars while airport fees fell by 15% to 140 million dinars.

The wage bill fell by only 9% to 128.6 million dinars, against 141 million at the end of September 2020.

The personnel costs therefore represent 32% of the company’s turnover.

As for the workforce, it fell from 3,464 employees at the end of September 2020 to 3,332 employees on September 30, a decrease of 132 people, or -4%.

In addition, the company’s net financial expenses more than doubled at the end of the first nine months of the year to 15.5 million dinars, compared to 6.5 million last year, an increase of 141%.
