WB to grant Mali 80b CFA francs for agriculture

The World Bank (WB) will grant Mali 80 billion CFA francs (about US$ 160 million) to increase productivity by family farms and those belon g ing to small agro-industrial entrepreneurs in Mali, according to an official sta t ement received by PANA here.

The funds are also meant to improve practices in terms of sustainable land and w ater management,

The Programme to Increase Agricultural Productivity in Mali (PAPAM) will contrib ute to food security and agricultural growth, the statement said.

It will also enable producers to modernize their farms and production systems th rough the application of a wide range of technologies to intensify agriculture, a nimal farming, land management and agro-forestry practices.
