West Africa Gas Pipeline firm to resume has supply to Ghana, others.

The West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAGPCO) is billed to resume gas flow through its pipeline on 30 April, 2013, when the repair of its damaged pipeline is expected to have been completed, the company said.

WAGPCO spokesperson Harriet Wereko-Brobby was quoted by the Punch newspaper as saying Monday that the pipeline, which was damaged in August 2012, had been undergoing repairs and tests for leakages, in preparation for the resumption of gas flow

WAGPCO is jointly owned by Nigeria, Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic.

Under an agreement with WAGPCO, the Navy in Nigeria and Benin Republic are now to protect the gas pipeline within their countries, while efforts are being made by the company to enter into a similar agreement with the Navy in Togo and Ghana to carry out strict surveillance on the gas equipment to avoid damage
