Mauritania has agreed to lift the suspension of the fisheries agreement with Senegal, signed in April, according to a statement issued Wednesday here by the Senegalese Ministry of Maritime Economy.
The suspension, which became effective on 7 April, was a result of non compliance with certain provisions of the agreement by Senegalese fishermen.
The Senegalese Minister of Maritime Economy, Khoureychi Thiam, who was in Nouakchott Wednesday, succeeded in resuming dialogue with the Mauritanian authorities.
Following this development, the fishing activities of holders of 300 licenses should therefore resume shortly, the ministry said
