Qatari investments in Tunisia exceeded 4 billion Qataris riyals in 2015 (10 riyals worth 6.555 Tunisian dinars), which represents 13% of the country’s total foreign direct investment, vice-president of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, Mohammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al Kuwari said during a meeting with a delegation of Tunisian businessmen.
He added that Qatari investments, including direct investment in five core projects, have created more than 120,000 jobs.
Al Kuwari stressed that these investments are on the top of those placed in the Arab world and second in terms of foreign direct investment of Tunisia, adding that the volume of trade between Qatar and Tunisia reached 146 million riyals in 2016.
During the meeting, Al Kuwari assured that the chamber is “ready to establish effective cooperation between the Qatari and Tunisian businessmen to stimulate other economic advantages for the two countries’ private sector.”
He noted that cooperation between Tunisian and Qatari businessmen “is one of the pillars of strong relations between the two countries”, and called on both parties to establish effective partnerships and invest in projects with high profitability.
