Tunisia: “olive oil production will be better than last year” (official)

This year’s cereal crop will be better than the previous one with between 16 and 17 million quintals, State Secretary for Agricultural Production, Amor Behi told ShemsFM on Wednesday.

Regarding olive oil, he said they expect a better crop compared to last year. 180 tons compared to only 100 in 2016.

For milk, Tunisia has exported to date 17.5 million liters; exports will reach 25 million liters at the end of the year. Milk is mainly exported to Libya.

He added that the Ministry of Agriculture is trying to protect domestic production.”We stopped importing feeder calves which had a positive impact on local farmers as well as the prices of the Tunisian calf,” he said.
