Tunisia: trade deficit widens to 7.5 billion dinars in H1 2021

The trade balance deficit of Tunisia amounted to 7.5 billion dinars at the end of the first half of the current year, against 6.6 billion at the end of June 2020, widening by 900 million dinars, said the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

However, the level of the trade deficit remains well below the one recorded at the end of June 2019, or 9.8 billion dinars.

Exports saw an increase of 25.5% in the first half of the current year, against a decline of 20.6% during the first half of 2020, to 22.8 billion dinars, from 18.2 billion at the end of June 2020.

Similarly, imports went up 22.4% after declining 24.2% during the first half of last year, to 30.3 billion dinars, against 24.8 billion at the end of June 2020.
