As a result of weak economic growth and high interest rates, the pace of credit growth has slowed sharply, from 8.2% in 2022 to 1.8% in 2023.
According to the Annual Report 2023 of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), published this Friday, this trend is mainly explained by the slowdown in the growth rate of loans to private professionals (1.4% compared to 8.8% in 2022).
The cost of loans, all categories combined, will increase more in 2023 than in 2022, as a result of the increase in the MMR.
