With 70 votes in favor, 16 abstentions and 7 votes against, the Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP) adopted the amendment of the loan contract concluded between the Central Bank of Tunisia, in the name and on behalf of the Tunisian State, and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), concerning additional financing of USD 500 million for the financing of the State budget.
Minister of Finance, Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia, has stated that Tunisia has resorted to borrowing in order to meet the financing needs set out in the 2024 budget.
She noted that the financing needs for the current year are estimated at 28.188 billion dinars and that about 26.6 billion dinars had been raised by December 26.
Nemsia added that with the entry into force of the additional financing of $500 million approved Friday, Tunisia will have completed the mobilization of the total amount of financing needs forecast for the current year, reports Mosaique FM.
