Tunisia: TABC president calls for expansion of network of trade offices in Africa

President of the Tunisian-African Business Council (TABC), Anis Jaziri, on Saturday called for the expansion of the network of Tunisian embassies and trade offices in Africa, while stressing the importance of increasing the number of visits by Tunisian officials and economic operators to the various countries of the continent in order to make Tunisia an economic hub for the region.

Speaking at a conference organized by the TABC to present its new projects and initiatives, Jaziri stressed that this meeting was an opportunity to support Tunisian companies in their expansion in Africa.

He stressed the importance of developing an advanced maritime logistics infrastructure (direct link between Tunis, Dakar and Abidjan) and improving the profitability of Tunisian ports, particularly Rades.

Jaziri underscored the need to give greater importance to air transport by establishing air links with African countries and to land transport by linking Tunisia to the Algerian trans-Saharan road and developing the Tunisia-Libya-Niger trans-Saharan road.

He also pointed out that the foreign exchange law should be amended to encourage Tunisian exporters and investors to enter African markets.

Jaziri also stressed the need to seize the opportunities offered by regional integration initiatives, including the Continental African Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) agreements, and to develop an appropriate communication strategy to promote Tunisia as an investment platform for Africa. He also urged participants to keep abreast of technological innovations, particularly new marketing techniques.

The conference was an opportunity to present projects to investors wishing to capture the African market, such as the Qawafel project (project to support the internationalization of Tunisian startups and SMEs on the African continent), financed by the French Development Agency (AFD).
