One billion dinars: Marouène Mabrouk’s bail

The Criminal Chamber specialized in financial corruption cases at the Tunis First Instance Court has decided to defer the ruling in the case against businessman Marouène Mabrouk, former CEO of Karama Holding, and former ministers, including Youssef Chahed and Mabrouk Korchid, following a hearing dedicated to examining bail requests and setting the date of the next session, according to Mosaique FM.

The public prosecutor’s representative requested a financial bail of 1,000 million dinars (1 billion) in exchange for agreeing to release businessman Marouène Mabrouk.

Mabrouk appeared in court on Monday, accompanied by Adel Grar, former CEO of Karama Holding, and a third defendant, all three in custody, in connection with the case regarding the Tunisian authorities’ 2017 decision to lift the freezing of his assets by the European Union.

The list of accused also includes Samir Taïeb and Riadh Mouakher, who are at liberty, as well as Youssef Chahed and Mabrouk Korchid, who are currently on the run.
