The Competition Council has imposed fines on several Tunisian companies operating in various sectors.
The total amount of the sanctions amounts to 4.2 million dinars due to practices deemed contrary to competition, in accordance with Article 5 of Law No. 36 dated September 15, 2015, on the reorganization of competition and pricing.
In a statement, the Council, an independent judicial and regulatory body, specified that as part of its duties, it issued three new decisions on December 31 to ensure fair competition rules in the Tunisian market.
The first decision concerns a company in the pharmaceutical sector, which has been fined 1.2 million dinars for anti-competitive practices.
The second decision targets several companies in the Smartphone sector, sanctioned for a total amount of 2.5 million dinars, also for anti-competitive practices.
The third decision involves companies active in the packaging and conditioning sector, with a total fine of 0.5 million dinars, also for anti-competitive practices. It should be noted that all these decisions can be appealed by the sanctioned companies.
