Angolan govt. to reduce hotel charges

The Angolan government and the private sector have entered into discussion on ways to reduce hotel charges because the high cost of hotel rooms is hindering the promotion of tourism in the country, PANA reported.

A meeting was held Wednesday between the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the experts with a view to finding a way out of the problem.

In Angola, the prices of hotels vary between US$ 150 and US$ 500 per day, according to the luxury in the facility.

The high cost of hotels was the main complaint by visitors during the last African Cup of Nations football tournament (CAN), held in the country in January.

Aware of the negative consequences for the national economy, the Angolan government decided to take the problem head on by inviting the private sector for a discussion.
