BADEA plans forum for Arab, African firms

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) will organize the first forum for Arab and African Contracting Firms 16-17 March 2009 in the S enegalese Capital, Dakar, as part of efforts to enhance Afro-Arab cooperation., BADEA said in a statement obtained by PANA here Tuesday.

The statement said the opening session of the forum would be addressed by the Mi nister of State for Economy and Finance of the Republic of Senegal and Abdel Aziz Khelef, Director G eneral of BADEA.

About 100 participants, most of them representing 50 Arab and African Contractin g Firms, are expected to take part in the forum.

The Forum, which is being organised in collaboration with the Senegalese Ministr y of Economy and Finance, will discuss a number of issues of interest pertaining to Afro- Arab Cooperation in the sector of contrac ts implementation.

It will also explore possibilities of future co-operation among the contractors.

A number of recommendations are expected to be adopted at the end of the forum t o help strengthen the cooperation between the Arab and African firms.

BADEA’s operations cover all 43 eligible countries in sub-Saharan Africa, in add ition to a number of regional organizations.

They cut across many sectors, including agriculture, rural development, energy, industry as well as the social and financial sector.

The projects selected for financing by BADEA are directed towards improving the living conditions of the target beneficiaries.
