Bahrain ranks second among Arab Countries in E-Government Services

Bahrain E-Government ranks second in the Arab world, 8th in Asia and 42nd at the international level in terms of preparedness and integration of its services according to the bi-annual United Nations E-Government index, said Cabinet affairs Minister Sheikh Ahmed bin Atiyatallah Al Khalifa, who is in charge of the E-Government Authority.

In a statement to Akhbar Al Khaleej, published today, he said Bahrain is seeking to rank first in the gulf and one of the best five Asian countries in this respect.

‘There are attempts to cut down the existing gap and improve Bahrain’s ranking by setting up a specialized committee in this regard,’ he added.

Bahrain’s experience has proved outstanding owing to the adoption of an integrated e-government national strategy and the setting up of the information technology and telecommunications high committee headed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, he was quoted as saying by Bahrain News Agency
